Philippa Adams
Former Senior Director, Saatchi Gallery, London
Philippa Adams was instrumental in shaping the contemporary relevance of the institution founded by visionary collector Charles Saatchi some 30 years ago. She has preserved the founder's impetus on young generations of English and American artists as well as adapting to the shifting nature of the global art world and of the city of London: over recent years, under her directorship, the whole world has found itself at the Saatchi Gallery. Europe, China, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa have all been covered by this uniquely comprehensive program. Adams represented the Gallery abroad and expanded its reach with her personal projects around the world, notably the US, Korea and Latin America, where she fostered the provocative model embodied by the Gallery, at the service of artists and the public. She has a great presence in the Colombian art scene, as art partner of BARCU, programming international artists whilst creating a dedicated platform for artists from Latin America.

Amongst Philippa Adams' current undertakings consulting and curating, lies the development of WWAM - a virtual museum, inaugurated with Her Dark Materials, in collaboration with virtual exhibition platform Eye of the Huntress. The exhibition brings together 27 international women artists.
WWAM Arts presents a digital render of a former industrial warehouse from 1838, which formed part of Wolverton Railway Works. Developed by Adams as a virtual showcase for future collaborations and partnerships. Uniquely positioned as a virtual museum which can adapt architecturally to the art that it encapsulates, creating a dialogue between the two disciplines and paving the way for further interdisciplinary experimentation.
Her Dark Materials: 22 June – 22 September
