The work is a continuation of a series of works that looked at the Volkisch movement in Germany prior to the 20th century and as such mimics the use of the folk art of paper cutting (scherenschnitte) to tell a tale. Using 19th century engravings from the Bible and folk tales, Thorn, 2018, looks at the visual imagery connected to the repression of the female in literature and man’s inhumanity towards the natural world.
